Local treating is a treatment performed by
applying chemicals directly to accessible infected wood. Here is the process:
1. Rows of holes are drilled across the grain
of infested timbers through out the length of the wood.
2. Those holes are then injected with a state registered termiticide.
The chemical will flow through the channels that the termites have created.
3. The evidence of infestation is either removed or covered to help determine
the activity of possible future infestations.
Pros
- more convenient for multiple unit structures
- lower cost
- lessened opportunity for roof and/or plant damage
- less work for occupant
- won't have to leave the house
- chemical used leaves a residual which prevents possible reinfestation
of treated area
Cons
- this is a control method (not eradication), and is most effective
in visible areas
- all termites in a structure may not be eliminated
When we local treat
1. Local treatment is most effective when infestations are located
in visible and accessible areas or if infestation extending into inaccessible
areas can be opened for further inspection and then treated.
2. Multiple unit structures or ) lot lines prevent ability to fumigate
properties. When fumigation should take place in such situations, local
treatment is considered secondary and substandard.
*We offer annual maintenance control policies for all of our customers.
